Welcome to Moles class!
Wow! Where has the year gone? As we enter our final half term this academic year, we are excited to get stuck into our last topic ‘What is survival instinct?’. During this busy, short half term, we will be growing our own plants whilst considering what they will need to survive! We will also be looking at human survival skills and what essential resources we would need if we found ourselves stranded! We are also lucky enough to be going on a school trip to ‘Omega Outdoor Adventure’ towards the end of the topic which is going to be so much fun! In English, we will be looking at performance poetry and identifying the features of a poem. We will then be writing our own poems to perform at the end of the half term. We will be using the FANTASTICS, GRAMMARTASTICS AND BOOMTASTICS from the Write Stuff in our writing to make improvements and to make our work stand out! In addition to this, we will continue to have a big focus on reading and all children will have an opportunity to read with an adult in the class. Each week there will be a reading afternoon dedicated to reading and comprehension skills. Please ensure that your child has a reading book with them each day. We will continue to teach spellings using the ‘Sounds Write’ scheme, which focuses on phonics and sounds. In mathematics, we will be looking at time, measurement and statistics! We will also be practising our times tables each week and it would be great if you could practise together at home as this will really support your child’s learning. Remember that you can access TTRockstars from home at any time. Our PE sessions are on Tuesdays so please ensure that your child comes to school in their correct, full PE kit. Please remember sun cream and a hat if it is sunny. We will also be going swimming each Friday this half term so please remember to send your child to school in their PE kit with their swimming kit to change into at school.
